Berlin Brandenburg Airport commenced an Aug-2026 trial of an AI robotic vehicle that scanned apron and runway surfaces using 3D laser technology, with the trial running until the end of 2026, and fully autonomous testing targeted for Oct-20261. German Aviation Association president Lars Redeligx called for faster rollout of airport drone protection measures, citing EUR60 million of drone-related business interruption damage in 2025 and EUR160 million including consequential costs2.
