Detroit Metropolitan Airport reports 8% fall in Sep-2009 pax numbers

Detroit Metropolitan Airport reports (02-Nov-09) the following traffic highlights in Sep-2009:

  • Passenger numbers: 2.4 million, -8.3% year-on-year;
    • Domestic: 2.3 million, -5.8%;
    • International: 184,767, -30.8%.

Detroit Metro Airport: “Sep-2009's passenger traffic decline of 8.3% actually beat the expectations of airport management and represents the smallest month-over-month rate of decline in 2009. With the exception of Jul-2009’s 9.2%, every other month this year has posted a double-digit rate of decline…While the rate of decline shows improvement, it is still a decline and revenue continues to be a challenge,” Lester Robinson, CEO, Source: Company statement, 02-Nov-2009.
