Denver International Airport selects Ferrovial Airports consortium for terminal renovation project
Denver International Airport selected (30-Jun-2016) a consortium led by Ferrovial Airports as the preferred bidder for its main terminal renovation project. The consortium has been selected "to enter into exclusive negotiations for a public-private partnership (PPP) to make much needed improvements" to the Jeppesen Terminal. Under the arrangement, both the airport and the contractor would share in project costs and revenue. Denver Mayor Michael B Hancock said the airport will commence negotiations with Ferrovial "to define the terms and scope of work for the initial phase of the project, called pre-development. If an agreement is reached, the contract for the pre-development phase of work will then be presented to the Denver City Council for approval, sometime in Aug-2017. If the pre-development phase is approved, "it would lead to approximately six months of additional negotiations to further refine the scope of work, design, financial terms and schedule for a potential long-term PPP. At the end of the pre-development phase, the airport and city will make a decision whether to proceed with this PPP". [more - original PR]
