Delta announces executive changes, Richard Anderson to retire as CEO
Delta Air Lines announced (03-Feb-2016) Richard H Anderson has chosen to retire as CEO effective 02-May-2016, and will appointed as executive chairman of the board of directors. The carrier also announced the following executive changes:
- President Ed Bastian will replace Mr Anderson as CEO effective 02-May-2016;
- EVP Glen Hauenstein will be appointed president;
- Gil West is promoted immediately as SEVP and COO;
- President of international and EVP of global sales Steve Sear will lead the Atlantic, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America organisations in addition to global sales, effective immediately;
- Director Frank Blake will become lead director upon Mr Anderson's appointment as executive chairman;
- Dan Carp will step down as non-executive chairman while remaining on the board of directors.
Mr Carp noted, "Under Richard's leadership, Delta has become the most profitable and best run airline that consistently delivers excellent customer service. The entire Board of Directors extends a hearty thanks for his service, his leadership and his thoughtful succession planning process.
