Delta and Northwest to operate under single code

Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines received formal US Federal Aviation Administration permission to operate under a single Aircraft Operators' Certificate (RTT News/Bloomberg, 02-Jan-2010). Delta will phase out the last of Northwest Airlines' branding and code in 1Q2010, and merge the airlines' reservation systems. The carriers will also have a single organisational structure and common technical requirements.
