Dana Airlines records loss of NGN270m due to bird strike

Dana Airlines recorded a loss of approximately NGN270 million to a recent bird strike on one of its aircraft (All Africa, 18-Nov-2010). Managing Director Jacky Hathiramani stated the aircraft which was leaving Abuja for Lagos was grounded for three weeks as a result of the bird strike. Mr Hathiramani added: "The incident, which can be prevented, is causing the airline great losses and potential risks to flight. We hope that the authorities will take up the challenge as soon as possible and reduce, if not eliminate, the incident of bird strikes in our airports."
