CommuteAir extended its United Airlines contract to operate 50-seat Embraer ERJ145s through end-2028 and opened a new corporate headquarters in Westlake, Ohio.1 CommuteAir’s 76-seat Embraer E170 received US FAA certification after a 10-month process, enabling direct-booked charter flying; SVP flight operations Captain David Fitzgerald said it targeted a gap between small regional jets and larger narrowbodies.2 US DoT previously granted CommuteAir a four-month waiver of a dormancy condition to allow time to confirm E170 airworthiness conformity and secure FAA certification.3
