Japan International Cooperation Agency agreed to re-grant a concessional loan of LKR170 billion to resume construction of Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport's second terminal, after the project was suspended due to an economic recession. The works are expected to increase the airport's passenger handling capacity from six million to 16 million per annum, with a tender for the main terminal and associated infrastructure closing on 24-Dec-2024 and an execution period of 30 months1 2.
