Clariant to stop producing de-icing fluid for four days in Jan-2011; effect on airports unknown

Clariant stated it would interrupt production of a de-icing fluid used by 100 European airports between 01-Jan-2011 and 04-Jan-2011 due to a shortage of propylene glycol, a key ingredient in the fluid's production (Reuters, 30-Dec-2010). Clariant Head of Investor Relations Ulrich Steiner stated he was unable to say what impact the halt would have on airports some of which have already suffered shortages of de-icing fluid.
