China fifth largest global investor in outbound direct investment

China Ministry of Commerce stated China's outbound direct investment rose 1.1% year-on-year to USD56.5 billion in 2009, moving its global ranking from 12th position in 2008 to fifth in 2009 (China Daily, 06-Sep-2010). The ministry added foreign direct investment will "surpass USD100 billion" in 2010, compared to USD90 billion in 2009. In 2009, global outbound direct investment reached USD1.1 trillion with China accounting for 5.1%.
