China Eastern pax numbers up but cargo down in Dec-2012, 73 million pax in 2012

China Eastern Airlines reports (18-Jan-2013) the following traffic highlights:

  • Dec-2012:
    • Passenger numbers: 5.6 million, +6.9% year-on-year;
      • Domestic: 4.7 million, +6.2%;
      • International: 652,870, +11.4%;
      • Regional: 240,190, +9.1%;
    • Passenger load factor: 77.4%, +1.5 ppts;
      • Domestic: 76.6%, -0.4 ppt;
      • International: 79.7%, +5.9 ppts;
      • Regional: 75.2%, +2.8 ppts;
    • Cargo volume: 123,460 tonnes, -8.1%;
      • Domestic: 61,780 tonnes, -6.5%;
      • International: 52,970 tonnes, -10.4%;
      • Regional: 8710 tonnes, -4.3%;
    • Cargo load factor: 66.4%, +0.9 ppt;
      • Domestic: 55.4%, stable;
      • International: 71.4%, +1.3 ppts;
      • Regional: 46.0%, +1.2 ppts;
  • 12 months ended Dec-2012:
    • Passenger numbers: 73.0 million, +6.3%;
