China Eastern Airlines seeking further funds, but no intention of inviting strategic investors

China Eastern Airlines reiterated it is seeking further government and other funding, but added it is not the intention of the carrier to invite strategic investors (Wall Street Journal, 20-Apr-2010). China Eastern hopes to bring its total debt to equity ratio from the current 90% to a level more in line with competitors of approximately 70%. The carrier is expected to invest CNY11.5 billion in capital this year, CNY7.5 billion more than the previous year.
