China and Russia agree on temporary fifth freedom and overflight rights

Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency announced (06-Aug-2019) the signing of an agreement with China, allowing designated Russian carriers to exercise fifth freedom rights up to nine times weekly in total, on Vladivostok-Shenzhen/Changsha/Taiyuan-Tokyo/Osaka services for up to three times weekly for each point in China. The provision is available for two consecutive IATA seasons, from IATA winter 2019. Chinese carriers are entitled to additional overflying rights nine times weekly on the same temporary basis.
