Air Astana commenced three times weekly Almaty-Shanghai Pudong and operated up to 32 weekly frequencies between Kazakhstan and six Chinese cities, after carrying over 250,000 Kazakhstan-China passengers in 2025 (+96% YoY).1 Kazakhstan and China previously signed an MoU lifting the bilateral cap to 124 weekly frequencies and permitting fifth freedom rights, while adding Yining and discussing Kashgar services.2
