CAAC: China had 26 airports with annual pax in excess of 10m in 2015, two more than 2014

CAAC reported (31-Mar-2016) there were 70 airports in China with annual passenger numbers exceeding 1.0 million in 2015, six more than in 2014, and accounting for 95.5% of total passenger traffic at all Chinese airports. The number of airports with annual passengers exceeding 10 million reached 26, two more than in 2014, and accounting for 77.9% of total passengers at Chinese airports. Airports in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou handled 27.3% of China's total passengers. The busiest regions were:

  • East: Account for 29.1% of total passengers at Chinese airports, +0.2 ppt year-on-year;
  • Central south: 23.7%, -0.6 ppt;
  • Southwest: 16.8%, +0.6 ppt;
  • North: 15.8%, -0.4 ppt;
  • Northeast: 6.0%, -0.1 ppt;
  • Northwest: 5.9%, +0.2 ppt;
