Burundi Government establishes new national carrier

Burundi's Ministry of Commerce, Transport, Industry and Tourism, via its official Twitter account, announced (04-Feb-2021) the new national carrier Burundi Airlines was officially established at a constitutive general assembly chaired by Minister Immaculée Ndabaneze. As previously reported by CAPA, the airline is formed under the merger of Air Burundi and airport services company SOBUGEA. Burundi's Government holds a 92% stake in the new airline while Société d'Assurances du Burundi (SOCABU) holds 4% and Sabena holds 4%.
