Barreirinhas Airport previously announced plans to support 24-hour and commercial operations via night lighting, PAPI equipment and terminal expansion.1 It also reportedly received ANAC approval for commercial operations but continued to serve general aviation only.2 Maranhão Province and Brazil's Ministry of Transport previously reported completion/inauguration of the airport's construction, including a 3400sqm facility and terminal sized for 300 passengers daily and A319 operations.3 4
