Boeing says use of 'immature' technologies caused B787 delays

Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Jim Albaugh stated the use of "immature" technologies caused delays to the B787 timetable, which is now almost three years behind schedule (Arabian Business, 23-Jan-2011). However he expressed confidence in the aircraft stating it has improved efficiencies than the aircraft it is replacing.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes: "Some of the technology was not as mature as it should have been and we put a global supply chain together without thinking through some of the consequences. When you put immature technology in your supply chain and don't supply adequate oversight, you have issues and that is what we had. It is going to be a magnificent airplane and will be 20% more efficient than the airplanes it is replacing,'' Jim Albaugh, President and CEO. Source: Arabian Business, 23-Jan-2011.
