Boeing confirms B787 is likely to miss delivery target

Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO and President, Jim Albaugh, confirmed the recent fire on a B787 test aircraft will have an impact on the first B787 delivery and the aircraft will miss its mid-1Q2011 delivery target (Reuters, 30-Nov-2010). Boeing is identifying the problem, reportedly due to a foreign object, and will make design changes to the electrical distribution panels and update software that manages power for the aircraft. Boeing has "several" weeks of work to complete before the fix is in place and it can offer an updated delivery schedule.
