Berlin Airports announces new passenger record

Berlin Airports announced it welcomed its 22nd millionth passenger on 04-Jan-2011, marking the first time that Berlin airport system has handled more than 22 million passengers in a one year period. Berlin Airports added that traffic numbers were up 6.7% in the Jan-Nov-2011 period, ahead of the German average of 5%.

Berlin Airports: "We are delighted to announce today that Berlin Airports has set a new record of 22 million passengers. In 2010 we achieved the best results since Berlin's airports started operating, despite the fact that the year got off to a critical start with the ash cloud, strikes and a severe winter. This is the eighth time in succession that we have performed better than the overall market. The new passenger record and our 12 long-haul services from Berlin mean that we have already achieved the goals we set ourselves for the first year after the opening of BBI."
