Beijing to construct second airport in five years

China's Central Government approved plans to construct a second airport in Beijing within the next five years to accommodate rising passenger traffic and relieve the pressure on Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) (China Briefing, 11-Jan-2011). The plan will be listed as a key project in the nation's 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) due for release in Mar-2011. The airport is expected to be operational in 2015 and would be built in the capital's southern Daxing district.
