Austrian VwGH approves third runway construction at Vienna Airport

Austria's Administrative Court (VwGH) approved (18-Mar-2019) construction of a third runway at Vienna International Airport. The Court overturned appeals made on the basis of noise complaints and environmental impact of the third runway. Flughafen Wien AG CEO Günther Ofner welcomed the decision, stating it secures long term growth prospects and competitiveness "not only for Vienna International Airport, but for Austria's economy, industry, tourism and the job market".
