Austrian Airlines reaches salary reduction agreements with ground staff and flight crew
Austrian Airlines reached (21-May-2020) an agreement with the works council representing the airline's ground staff. The agreement follows a previous deal signed with flight crew on 20-May-2020. A longer-term deployment of short time working measures has been agreed with the works councils until 2022. There will be no salary increases or inflation adjustments during this period. At the end of short time work, all employees will be entitled to a salary waiver. For ground staff, the company agreed to a temporary reduction in current salaries in the period 20-Mar-2020 to 31-Dec-2023, staggered between 2% and 15%. Cockpit and cabin crew will forego between 5.9% and 12.7% of their salaries from 2022 to 2024 as well as pension fund contributions. A long term social compensation plan in place currently will be extended until 31-Dec-2025. The combined savings to be made out to 2024 is expected to reach around EUR300 million. [more - original PR]
