Austrian Airlines anticipates 'difficult' 2H2019 due to competition from LCCs and fuel costs

Austrian Airlines CFO Wolfgang Jani stated (30-Jul-2019) the airline's losses in 1H2019 "can be mainly attributed to two factors: the glut of budget airlines in Vienna and higher jet fuel costs". The airline reported aviation fuel costs increased 17% in 1H2019. Mr Jani said Austrian continues "to anticipate a difficult year in 2019" due to high fuel prices and competition from LCCs at Vienna International Airport.
