Auckland International Airport’s wider transformation programme included a four-year departures hall overhaul to co-locate domestic and international travellers, replacing around 60 traditional check-in desks with common-use self-service kiosks and automated bag drops, with main check-in construction scheduled to start in 1Q2026, according to CEO Carrie Hurihanganui.1 It also planned a temporary Check-in Zone T pavilion beside the international terminal, with 28 counters and capacity for up to four widebody aircraft, scheduled to open in autumn 2026.2
