Auckland Airport signs USD494m contract with Hawkins for domestic jet terminal construction
Auckland International Airport signed (16-Sep-2024) a NZD800 million (USD493.9 million) contract with Hawkins Limited to manage the construction and delivery of the airport's domestic jet terminal building. The terminal integration programme is expected to create approximately 2500 jobs. Hawkins is installing approximately 600 steel piles to support more than 6000 tonnes of steel, concrete slabs, timber structural flooring, roofing and other building materials earmarked for the construction of the facility. As previously reported by CAPA, the facility is scheduled to open by 2030 and is designed to increase passenger processing capacity by 44%. The terminal will feature an individual carrier system for baggage handling, 12 gates and amenities including dedicated faith spaces, a low sensory room and baby changing facilities.
