AoT expects Cabinet approval for expansion of Suvarnabhumi

Airports of Thailand (AoT) expects Cabinet approval of the THB62 billion (USD2 billion) expansion of Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport on 24-Aug-2010, as the third runway is taken out of the plan pending an environmental impact assessment (The Nation, 24-Aug-2010).

AoT: "If the Cabinet approves the plan tomorrow, this will take 72 months for all to be completed on the assumption that in 2016 Suvarnabhumi will accommodate 64 million passengers. Without the approval, the existing facilities can handle more passengers, but they may have to wait in a longer line." Somchai Sawasdeepon, Senior Executive VP. Source: The Nation, 24-Aug-2010.
