AMR Corp to discuss American Eagle's future

AMR Corp announced plans to hire executives and bankers to brief American Eagle pilot leaders about the carrier's possible divestiture as the union steps up its review of the carrier's future (Bloomberg, 01-Mar-2011). AMR has been studying options for American Eagle since Jun-2010 as a way to reduce the cost of ferrying passengers to the larger carrier's hubs from small airports. Investment bankers hired by AMR will review whether it is best to sell, spin off or divest the carrier.
