American Airlines had previously planned to equip its A321 fleet with SafeRoute ADS-B In applications and supporting avionics from ACSS, which provides similar technology for its A330 fleet1. ACSS received FAA certification for the SafeRoute+ retrofit solution for the A321, with installation already underway at American Airlines as part of an evaluation programme with the FAA2.
