American Airlines appoints Robert Isom as president following Scott Kirby's departure

American Airlines Group appointed (29-Aug-2016) COO Robert Isom to the position of president, effective immediately. Mr Isom takes over the role from Scott Kirby, who has departed for United Airlines. As president, Mr Isom will continue to oversee the airline's operation and assume all revenue responsibilities for the carrier. American noted the management changes are the result of the "ongoing succession planning process", with the company concluding "it would not be able to retain its existing executive team in their current roles for an extended period".
