ALTA expects pax traffic, aircraft capacity to double over next 10, 15 years in Latin America

ALTA, in its seventh Pan American safety summit, stated (23-Jun-2016) Latin America's aviation industry has produced sustained growth despite a challenging economic environment in 2015/2016, with passenger traffic and aircraft capacity doubling. Based on this upward trend, ALTA estimates that the number of passengers and aircraft will double again over the next 10 to 15 years. Copa Airlines CEO and ALTA executive committee member Pedro Heilbron also delivered an update on aviation in the Latin America and Caribbean region, noting further teamwork and collaboration within the industry is key to ensuring the continued positive momentum in the region.
