Allegiant purchasing A320-family aircraft between eight and 14 years old

Allegiant Travel Company VP fleet and corporate finance Tom Doxey, speaking at the CAPA Airline Fleet & Finance Summit 2016, said (04-Mar-2016) the A320-family aircraft the carrier has been purchasing, "are between eight and 14 years old." Mr Doxey noted: "What we found is the structure we put on this debt is that it's something that has been very interesting to the banks as they look to diversify their portfolio." Mr Doxey continued: "Most of what we've done has been floating rate and because the aircraft are a bit older we have a smaller amortisation either to zero, or to a small balloon and to give you an example most of the recent debt we've done has had a five year amortisation so the banks get paid back very quickly."
