The planned expansion of HAL Bangalore International Airport aligns with Bangalore International Airport Ltd's (BIAL) strategy, which previously included obtaining Karnataka Government's permission to operate HAL Airport1. BIAL, operator of the nearby Bangalore Kempegowda International Airport, was granted a 30-year extension on its concession agreement, including a clause that allows it to operate HAL Airport, which has not been used for commercial operations since 20081.
