Airline profitability to reach record highs in 2010 and 2011: CAAC

CAAC stated it is developing its 12th five-year plan (2011 to 2015) for the nation's aviation industry, which it expects to maintain double-digit growth and introduce up to 200 new aircraft p/a (Economic Observer, 26-Nov-2010). According to CAAC, domestic airline profitability is expected to reach record high in 2010 while in profitability in 2011 of state-owned airlines, particular Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines, will continue to maintain its high levels due to increased consumer demand, improved market share and the appreciation of the Chinese yuan.
