airBaltic would likely lose codeshare partners if it joins an alliance

airBaltic CEO Martin Gauss, speaking at the CAPA World Aviation Summit 2015, said (07-Oct-2015) that if the carrier was to enter an alliance it would probably lose some of its 19 codeshare partners. The carrier adopts an alliance neutral attitude to its codeshare partnerships, having entered its codeshare partnerships based on their unique fit. Mr Gauss said that it is only possible to operate to "a lot" of airBaltic's destinations due to the existence of these codeshares and the strength of its partners.
