AirAsia expects cargo revenue to grow by over 40% this year

AirAsia expects its cargo revenue to grow by over 40% this year (Singapore Business Times, 22-Jan-2010). Assisting the growth, the group is utilising Special Prorate Agreements (SPA) with various carriers to extend its reach and is signing agreements with cargo agents and export-import firms in markets the carrier operates to. The carrier aims to continue growth in a variety of markets, but plans to focus on the South Asia in particular, due to its expanding network in the region.

AirAsia: "Demand for our cargo space is picking up, and with AirAsia now up there among the world's most recognisable brands and with the expanded reach that we have with our airline partners, more large companies are interested in our cargo services. Our competitive prices have allowed us to also increase business with individual senders," Sathis Manoharen, Regional Head for Cargo. Source: Singapore Business Times, 22-Jan-2010.
