AirAsia CEO: MAHB should build 'dedicated and functional' LCC terminal
AirAsia CEO Riad Asmat, commenting on the carrier's ongoing legal dispute with Malaysia Airports (MAHB) stated (25-Jul-2019) "MAHB should seriously consider building a dedicated and functional low cost carrier terminal, which charges lower rates like in Jakarta and Tokyo". Mr Asmat added: "This will provide the much needed boost for the local aviation industry and position Kuala Lumpur as a key aviation hub". AirAisa maintains that a "considerable portion of MAHB's revenue and profit is contributed by air passengers through the PSC [passenger service charge], which AirAsia has diligently collected and remitted to MAHB in full according to payment terms as agreed by both parties" he said. As previously reported by CAPA, MAHB announced its intention to collect the PSC due to it from AirAsia, as determined by a High Court ruling on 18-Jul-2019. [more - original PR]
