Air Transport Action Group and IATA push sustainable biofuel alternative

Air Transport Action Group Executive Director, Paul Steele, stated biofuels hold "great promise" in assisting the aviation industry in reaching its aviation emissions target (Swiss Info, 17-Sep-2010). Biofuels are estimated to reduce aircraft emissions by 80% compared with fossil fuels, when taking life-cycle emissions costs into account.

IATA: "Governments invested peanuts and the oil companies even less. Biofuels could break the tyranny of oil and lift millions from poverty along with providing a sustainable fuel source for aviation," Giovanni Bisignani, Director General & CEO. Reuters, 18-Sep-2010.
