Air traffic controllers made record number of mistakes in 2010

US Federal Aviation Administration reported a record 51% increase in errors in 2010 by air traffic controllers nationwide (Washington Post, 30-Dec-2010). Administrator Randy Babbitt is confident that his agency runs an "incredibly safe system" and noted that crash fatalities involving commercial carriers are at an all-time low.
