Air Tahiti Nui confirms plans to replace A340-300 fleet with four Boeing 787-9s from 4Q2018

Air Tahiti Nui confirmed (26-Feb-2015) it would replace its A340-300 long-haul fleet with four Boeing 787-9 beginning 4Q2018. The carrier plans to formalise the order during the company months. Two aircraft will be leased while the remaining two will be purchased outright. The choice of engine manufacturer has yet to be determined. According to the CAPA Fleet Database, Air Tahiti Nui currently operates four A340-300X and one A340-300E with an average age of 12.8 years. [more - original PR]
