Air Niugini's Refleet Program, funded by multiple financial institutions, aimed to modernise its fleet with the introduction of A220 and Boeing 787 aircraft. The first A220-300 was scheduled to enter service in September 2025, with further deliveries planned through 2028 to gradually replace older Fokker and leased Boeing 737-800 aircraft1. These efforts were supported by Papua New Guinea's Government funding2, coinciding with the country's 50th independence anniversary3.
