Air Niugini planned to introduce the first of its eleven A220s as part of a USD700 million re-fleeting programme, with three aircraft scheduled for delivery by the end of 2025 and the initial unit featuring a commemorative livery for Papua New Guinea's 50th anniversary of independence. The A220s will replace the ageing Fokker fleet and support both domestic and international operations, although some airports require infrastructure upgrades to accommodate the new type1 2 3.
