Air New Zealand planned to trial an all-electric demonstrator aircraft from mid-2025 as part of broader innovations, including digital bag tags and onboard domestic WiFi1. It signed a Letter of Intent with Avolon for the sale and leaseback of a BETA ALIA CX300, with the companies also partnering on research to support the commercialisation of electric aircraft and other novel propulsion technologies2.
