Air Lease Corporation outlines 2016 fleet summary

Air Lease Corporation released (01-Mar-2017) its year-end 2016 summary which included the following highlights:

  • Net book fleet value increased by 11.4% between 2015 and 2016 to USD12 billion;
  • 43 aircraft were purchased in 2016 and 46 sold with a total of 237 owned aircraft comprising 30 aircraft types;
  • Customer base comprised 85 carriers in 51 countries;
  • Average lease term remaining on operating lease portfolio averaged 6.9 years and average fleet age is 3.8 years as of 31-Dec-2016;
  • Supplemental agreements and amendments to existing agreements with Airbus and Boeing during 2016 included purchase 10 additional aircraft: One A350-900, one A321, six 737 MAX 8 and two 787-9;
  • Purchase commitments stand at 363 aircraft from Boeing and Airbus through to 2023 with an aggregate commitment of USD27.9 billion as of 31-Dec-2016;
  • Minimum future rental payments increased from USD20.9 billion in 2015 to USD23.8 billion in 2016. [more - original PR]
