Air India CEO: The 'upsides are immense' in the 'challenging environment' of India's aviation market

Air India CEO and MD Campbell Wilson, speaking at the CAPA Airline Leader Summit World, commented (11-Dec-2025) on the Indian market stating: "There's 1700 aircraft in the Indian aviation market. Our macro picture is very clear, then you factor in 35 million people in the diaspora, the geography... the upsides are immense". Mr Wilson highlighted supply of aircraft in the short term and the ongoing closure of Pakistani airspace as ongoing challenges, adding: "We just have to plan on the worst case scenario and deploy aircraft as best as we can, we still need to plan for growth and [incoming] aircraft... It's a very challenging environment".
