Air France-KLM orders 10 A350-900s for Air France

Air France-KLM board approved (11-Dec-2019) an order for 10 A350-900 aircraft for Air France. The decision will bring the future number of A350 aircraft in the carrier's fleet to 38, including three delivered to date. The order is part of the airline's fleet simplification strategy and its phase-out of A380 equipment, which will be retired by the end of 2022. The incorporation of the A350 will also allow the company to accelerate the departure of its A340 fleet during 1Q2021. Air France's long haul fleet will consist of 116 aircraft by 2023, split across A330, A350, Boeing 787 and 777 family aircraft. Air France CEO Anne Rigail commented: "The first results observed from Air France's operation of the Airbus A350 are excellent in every way, customer satisfaction, operational performance, and a reduced environmental footprint. With an investment of over EUR1 billion p/a, our fleet modernisation is our main lever for meeting our objective to reduce our CO2 emissions by 50% per passenger km by 2030". [more - original PR]
