Air France-KLM to introduce in-flight connectivity from Feb-2013

Air France-KLM announced (11-Jun-2012) plans to introduce in-flight Wi-Fi from Feb-2013, beginning with a trial on two Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, one operated by Air France and one operated by KLM. The service will be provided in partnership with Panasonic Avionics and passengers will also be able to send SMS messages on board. Air France-KLM senior vice president marketing Christian Herzog said, "This trial run is the first step of Air France's and KLM's long-term strategy to offer in-flight connectivity solutions across our long-haul fleet. We are pursuing our investments to even better serve our customers and to remain at the forefront in terms of innovations and mobile services".
