Air France-KLM contributing over EUR70bn to French and Dutch economies annually

Air France-KLM unveiled (19-Jun-2024) the results of an impact study designed to quantify and analyse the socio-economic benefits generated by its activity in France and the Netherlands, across its passenger transport, cargo and aircraft maintenance businesses. The study was commissioned by the group and carried out by Institut Mines Télécom Business School professor and director Herbert Castéran. Highlights include:

  • Group generates 1.9% of French GDP and 2.3% of Dutch GDP;
  • Total economic impact is estimated at EUR48.9 billion in France and EUR21.9 billion in the Netherlands (or EUR723 per year per inhabitant in France and EUR1228 per year per inhabitant in the Netherlands);
  • For every EUR invested, the group generates EUR3.6 in the French economy and EUR3.4 in the Dutch economy;
  • An estimated 552,570 jobs in France and 267,996 jobs in the Netherlands depended on Air France-KLM's activity. These figures include around 46,000 direct jobs in France and 26,000 in the Netherlands;
  • Each direct job created by the group generates 11 additional jobs in France and 9.2 in the Netherlands. [more - original PR]
