Aeroflot previously signed an agreement with Russia's Transport Ministry, Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, and the Centre for Biometric Technology to introduce biometric technology at airports, aiming to improve quality and speed up procedures, with biometrics potentially serving as an alternative to passport checks during check in and boarding1. Biometric identification was already in use at business lounges in several major Russian airports2.
