Aircraft lessors have continued to pursue insurance recoveries for assets detained in Russia since the invasion of Ukraine, with AerCap and other lessors facing significant write-offs and slow progress on claims. Air Lease Corporation, for example, received USD328.5 million in insurance settlement proceeds in 1Q2025 related to similar losses, having recovered USD424.3 million to date from a USD791 million write-off in 1Q20221 2.
